PLEASE READ AND SAVE YOUR PET AND YOUR MONEY!!
I write this story not seeking retribution, but with the hopes that I help at least 1 person not waste their dog’s health, time, and money at this Corporately owned, money-gauging Vet practice.
OVERPRICED SURGERY DONE INCORRECTLY
My dog, Hank, has been a patient at ahcbr for almost a year now. When we got there, Dr. Hendry explained to me that Hank had bad entropion and needed a surgery (which he did). They told me it would be pretty costly($1440, later found that surgery standard is $400-$600), but that their expertise was of the highest quality and even told me when I asked if by some chance they messed up and had to do it again that "I can't imagine you would have to pay for it". Fast forward to after the surgery. I noticed the problem, while slightly better, persisted. I went into the vet to ask them if there was a chance they hadn't taken enough eye skin and Dr. Hendry told me "If I took off any more skin his eyes would droop, but I can refer you to an ophthalmologist that can do a special eye pinning surgery." They later told me after asking that the surgery she was referring to cost $8000. Long story short, I went to another vet (family-owned) and they told me, without me asking, he still had bad entropion and needed more skin removed. However, they told me, while they would do it, they know a specialty ophthalmologist in Houma that wouldn't charge me more than $600 (who would be a much better choice). At the best, ahcbr and Dr. Hendry showed incompetence. At worst, they were blatantly misleading me so that they could maximize the number of things I had to pay for. All this to say, this Vet clinic is an absolute money-gauging SCAM. Please don't waste your dog’s health, your time, or your money here.
