I have lived in my apartment for twenty years. When I first moved in we had a wonderful caretaker who kept the building and grounds in great shape. Now Arcadia Management is in control of my apartment building. Maintenance is not always performed, the grounds are shabby, and this morning 12;20am the temperature outside is in the 40’s and it is so cold in my apartment that I can’t sleep. We have radiator heat but there is no heat coming from the radiator. This Management Company seems to care about nothing but making money. Turning off the heat when it is still cold out, requiring renters to have $300,000 of liability renters insurance with them as the beneficiary, charges for pets and storage compartments even though both of those things were free when I moved into this building, and so on. The management company has very limited hours and after hours calls are not responded to unless there is fire or flood. I had a fire detector go off all night, keeping me awake (and I’m sure other tenants also) because no one would come after hours to fix it or even tell me how I could fix it myself. My advice? Try to find an apartment building with an onsite caretaker. Avoid Arcadia Management.
