I would not recommend friends or others to work for HML / GCS , HML / GCS doesn’t offer any incentive for their employees future, there is little to no room for advancement.
Vacation pay is paid on every cheque so no money banked for vacation if you’re able to take one? no savings or RRSP matching nothing in place for retirement plan. Very basic benefits where the employees always pay a percentage out of pocket, no rewards or acknowledgement for their long time field employees or even employees who have made it past their first year other than a tiny bonus so small it isn’t recognized by a thank you or handshake in person from anyone in management.

In the fall to winter season employees are baited into signing a contract that really doesn’t benefit them it’s more of a device to pay as little as possible to employees and get the maximum out of the workers who sign. It also ply’s employees against each other. New employees will work while experienced ones stay home as a sign of punishment if agreement is not signed, even though the senior employees have already stuck through the company in their challenging times.

The company is continuously spending money on its self contributing to the company’s overall wealth (EBITDA)with new company trucks, equipment, building and buying property, meanwhile the employees get apparel to advertise for the company and an annual feed & booze at a sister company establishment that not all employees have interest in. No real investment into valued employees.

There is much opinion that the Office staff is bloated with to much salary and say, some office staff seem to be doing the same job? From what Is observed and conversed there is a general consensus from many of the employees expressing that the office staff takes for granted how hard the field employees work, the office doesn’t seem to realize it’s the workers that make the company go round and keeps the office staff employed.

The office staff always sides with the customers or even the complainants over their own employees, usually with threat of discipline. The field employees do not feel appreciated and most are not Happy workers with very uncertain futures.
