The staff and management is super helpful and friendly. My car was towed and set there over 20 plus days. They worked with me so I wouldn't lose my car. They could have been totally opposite and not help. They were amazing, compassionate, and understanding of my situation. I give them 5 out of 5 stars.
Timeline of Events and Facts
• Saturday, October 11, 2025
• We were involved in an accident on the interstate, resulting in our vehicle being totaled.
• The vehicle was towed by AAA to be evaluated and was officially deemed a total loss.
• Our insurance company provided us with a rental car while we worked to obtain a replacement vehicle.
• Need for Condo Parking Sticker
• We own a condominium at Nunn Lofts in downtown Lexington.
• Parking at the condominium requires a visible condo sticker.
• Because our original car was totaled, we transferred the condo parking sticker from the old car to the insurance-provided rental car.
• This was necessary so we could legally park at the condo while attending a basketball game on October 24, 2025.
• Parking Situation
• We parked the rental car in the outdoor lot of the condominium.
• Our car was the only vehicle parked outside; all other vehicles were parked inside the garage.
• The rental car displayed the Nunn Lofts condo parking sticker on the windshield.
• Towing Incident
• We attended the basketball game and returned a couple of hours later.
• Upon returning, all vehicles were gone from the outdoor lot, including ours.
• We later learned our rental car had been towed by METRO TOWING.
• Immediate Consequences
• We had two other people en route to meet us elsewhere.
• Those individuals had to come pick us up due to the unexpected tow.
• We then went to Metro Towing to retrieve the vehicle.
⸻
Interaction with Metro Towing
• Upon arrival, we explained:
• We owned a condo at Nunn Lofts.
• The car was legally parked with a valid condo sticker.
• The car was a rental, provided by our insurance company due to a totaled vehicle.
• Metro Towing staff included:
• A woman at the front desk.
• A younger male employee who accompanied us to the vehicle.
• The woman at the desk stated:
• There were no condo stickers on the windshield of the car.
• The younger employee:
• Went to the car with us.
• Confirmed that the Nunn Lofts parking sticker was clearly visible.
• After being proven incorrect:
• The desk attendant became visibly displeased.
• She refused to acknowledge the mistake.
• She refused to explain who authorized the tow or provide any documentation.
⸻
Refusal to Release the Vehicle
• We attempted to pay the towing fee and retrieve the vehicle.
• Metro Towing then refused to release the car because:
• It was a rental vehicle.
• They demanded proof from the rental car company itself.
• We explained:
• It was after 10:00 PM.
• The rental car agency was closed.
• We showed confirmation on our phones from the insurance company directing us to obtain the rental car.
• We had a confirmation number for the rental.
• Metro Towing:
• Would not accept the documentation.
• Would not allow us to retrieve the car.
• Would only release it if a rental car representative physically came to the lot, which was impossible at that hour or over the weekend.
⸻
Financial Impact
• Because the car could not be retrieved until Monday, Metro Towing:
• Charged storage fees for Saturday night, Sunday, and into Monday.
• Added over $100 in storage fees on top of towing charges.
• The total cost approached $400.
⸻
Additional Context and Corroboration
• Police officers we spoke with stated:
• Metro Towing is widely regarded as the worst towing company in Lexington.
• They do not have contracts with Metro Towing due to their behavior and reputation.
• Our credit card company initially denied our dispute, stating:
• We “enlisted” Metro Towing’s services.
• We clarified:
• We did not call or authorize Metro Towing.
• They were called by an unknown third party.
• We paid only because it was the only way to retrieve the vehicle.
• Coincidentally, on the same day:
• I personally had another accident.
• Winchester Towing responded.
• When asked about Metro Towing, they independently stated:
• Metro Towing is known for being rude and unethical.
• While this came from a competitor, the contrast in professionalism was notable.
⸻
Unethical Practices and Concerns
• Towing a vehicle that:
• Was legally parked.
• Displayed a valid condo parking sticker.
• Denying the presence of the sticker:
• Even after it was physically confirmed by their own employee.
• Refusing transparency:
• Would not disclose who authorized the tow.
• Would not provide documentation or justification.
• Holding a vehicle hostage:
• Despite proof of legal possession and insurance authorization.
• Knowing retrieval was impossible due to time and weekend closures.
• Inflating charges through preventable storage fees:
• Created solely by their refusal to release the vehicle.
• Rude, hostile, and uncooperative behavior:
• No effort to resolve the situation fairly.
• No empathy or professionalism shown.
⸻
Conclusion
Despite repeated efforts to resolve this matter through:
• Metro Towing,
• Law enforcement,
• And our credit card company,
we received no meaningful assistance or accountability.
At minimum, this experience deserves to be documented publicly so others are aware of the unethical, predatory, and unprofessional practices employed by Metro Towing. While we were forced to pay to retrieve our vehicle, we refuse to remain silent about how we were treated.
