After calling many training schools, I came to Joe at the Ohio State k-9 College.
My son's father was breeding šš²šæšŗš®š» š¦šµš²š½šµš²šæš±š, and my son asked if he could have one, so his dad allowed him to choose a š²-šš²š²šø-š¼š¹š± š½šš½š½š.
His father instructed him to keep the dog in a š°š®š“š² at all times whenever he was not home. My son was attending school and often worked after school, so the dog remained in the š°š®š“š² for šÆ šš²š®šæš. One day, while taking him out to š½š¼ššš, š¦šŗš¼šøš²š attacked a neighborhood child who was riding his šÆš¶šøš².
Until the issue was resolved in ššæš®š»šøš¹š¶š» šš¼šš»šš šš¼ššæš, our son placed him with a š³š®šŗš¶š¹š š³šæš¶š²š»š±, unsure what would happen or how to handle him. The dog stayed in an š¼ššš±š¼š¼šæ šøš²š»š»š²š¹ for šÆ šŗš¼š»ššµš. The family friend could not get him to obey š°š¼šŗšŗš®š»š±š, and his š®š“š“šæš²ššš¶š¼š» only worsened.
š¦šŗš¼šøš²š was heartbroken and developed severe šš²š½š®šæš®šš¶š¼š» š®š»š š¶š²šš from not being with my son.
š¦šŗš¼šøš²š would not š²š®š for the family friend during the first week, so my son had to go over to š³š²š²š± him. Eventually, Smokey had to be returned to my son.
My son still did not know what to do, so he kept him in the š°š®š“š² at all times for the šš®š³š²šš of the other household members, since š¦šŗš¼šøš²š no longer trusted the other people in the home.
They later moved to š š®š»šš³š¶š²š¹š±, where š¦šŗš¼šøš²š was kept in the backyard on a š°šµš®š¶š» with a š±š¼š“ šµš¼ššš² for over a year.
He got š¹š¼š¼šš² several times, breaking š°šµš®š¶š»š, and once šÆš¶š a man walking down the street. Fortunately, the man did not report it to the š®šššµš¼šæš¶šš¶š²š.
Soon afterward, my son called me š²š šµš®šššš²š± and extremely stressed, not knowing what to do anymore, begging me to help Smokey.
I told my son I would come pick up š¦šŗš¼šøš²š, and I did.
After šÆ šŗš¼š»ššµš of working with Smokey, I realized that even with a šŗšššš¹š² on, he was still very š±š®š»š“š²šæš¼šš.
I first tried to šš¼š°š¶š®š¹š¶šš² him with people, but Smokey would not allow it, either inside or outside. In fact, while inside my home, Smokey would try to go through the šš¶š»š±š¼š when he saw people.
Although I can now get Smokey to allow š¦š¢š š š½š²š¼š½š¹š² to come into my home and sit on the couch if he has the šŗšššš¹š² on, they must remain very still. Smokey will walk up, šš»š¶š³š³ them, and then watch them š°š¼š»šš¶š»šš¼ššš¹š until they leave.
Before this, he would š¹šš»š“š² at everyone, trying to šÆš¶šš² them.
I now realize that Smokey desperately needs šš²šæš¶š¼šš š½šæš¼š³š²ššš¶š¼š»š®š¹ ššæš®š¶š»š¶š»š“ from a š šš¦š§šš„ š§š„ššš”šš„, so my son can learn how to properly train and handle him.
I spoke with several people and became exhausted trying to find a š„ššš ššæš®š¶š»š²šæ who would work with both my son šš”š Smokey. I even contacted š² š±š¼š“ ššæš®š¶š»š¶š»š“ šš°šµš¼š¼š¹š, and they told me I could leave Smokey at their šÆš¼š®šæš±š¶š»š“ šš°šµš¼š¼š¹ for š°āš² šš²š²šøš so they could train him to obey their staff.
Then they would give my son š šš²š²šø of training for $š±š¬š¬š¬.
However, what they failed to explain were the šŗš²ššµš¼š±š they would use to train Smokey.
While searching online for dog trainers, I eventually found the š¢šµš¶š¼ š¦šš®šš² š-šµ šš¼š¹š¹š²š“š² website.
After reading through the website, I realized that šš¼š²š was exactly the person we desperately needed to get Smokey š½šæš¼š½š²šæš¹š ššæš®š¶š»š²š±.
I was also surprised when I called the š¢šµš¶š¼ š¦šš®šš² š-šµ šš¼š¹š¹š²š“š² and was able to personally speak with šš¼š²š (š§šš ššš¢), who actually answers his own phone.
I honestly cannot remember šš©šš„ speaking directly with the ššš¢ of a company in any industry before.
After speaking with Joey for š¼šš²šæ š® šµš¼ššæš, I realized he is like an š²š»š°šš°š¹š¼š½š²š±š¶š® of š±š¼š“ šøš»š¼šš¹š²š±š“š² and ššæš®š¶š»š¶š»š“, not only for the š±š¼š“, but for the šµššŗš®š» as well.
He reassured me that he could š°š¼šŗš½š¹š²šš²š¹š š³š¶š š¦šŗš¼šøš²š for my son.
I cannot thank him enough for his šš¶šŗš², šµš²š¹š½, and all the š¶š»š³š¼šæšŗš®šš¶š¼š» he provides to his potential š¦š§šØššš”š§š¦.
After reading šš¼š²šāš šš²šÆšš¶šš², I now clearly understand that his strategy begins with training the ššØš šš” ššš„š¦š§, because that is the šŗš¼šš š¶šŗš½š¼šæšš®š»š part of training the dog
